Northwest Iowa — 52 new cases of COVID-19 were reported by the Iowa Department of Public Health Sunday in the four-county area of O’Brien, Osceola, Sioux and Lyon Counties.
In the last 24 hours, O’Brien County was up 10 cases, at 1093 cases since the pandemic began. Sioux County was up 31 cases at 3214. Lyon County was up 10 cases at 779, and Osceola County was up 1 at 437.
The survival rate, meaning of the cases reported in a county — how many have not died, looks like this: Osceola County leads our four counties since no deaths have been reported there — so their COVID survival rate is 100 percent. While Sioux County has by far the most cases, they are actually in second place for survival rate at 99.3 percent. O’Brien is next with 97.8 percent, and then it’s Lyon County at 96.4 percent.
There were no COVID-related deaths in the four-county area included in Sunday’s report.
As far as active cases Lyon County has 267, Sioux County has 918, O’Brien County has 505, and Osceola has 182.
Out of the 779 Lyon County residents who have had COVID-19, 504 have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 65%.
Out of the 3214 Sioux County residents who have had COVID-19, 2274 have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 71%.
Out of the 1093 O’Brien County residents who have had COVID-19, 564 have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 52%.
Out of the 437 Osceola County residents who have had COVID-19, 255 have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 58%.
