2018 Ladies Day Out a Big Hit

Sheldon, Iowa – Women from as far away as Beaver Creek, Minnesota, came out to attend Sheldon’s annual Ladies Day Out event Thursday. The schedule for the afternoon included a social time, luncheon, fashion show, and speaking engagement by retired educator, author, and motivator Pat McGill.

One hundred forty women attended the popular outing, including twenty-one women representing the Red Hat Society from Sioux Center and Ireton. The occasion was informal, and was a time for ladies in the surrounding communities to socialize, play some fun party games, and view the upcoming fashions from Sheldon retailers, including Missy’s, Marigold’s, Revolution Consignment, Validation, Alissa Ryan, Mr. B’s & Lady B’s, and Carl’s Footwear.

Mayor Trisha Meendering was the emcee for the day and engaged the attendees in reflecting on the entertainment from previous years. Some of the favorites have been Tina and Lena – the church basement ladies, a Julia Child impersonator, and a love letters skit put on by the Pearson Lake Art Center. This year Pat McGill had women laughing with her honest, comical views on life. She talked about the power of women and shared her five keys of communication in an effective yet funny way and closed out the afternoon with everyone joining together in song.

Below are some of the pictures from the afternoon’s events.
