Northwest Iowa — The reasonably pleasant temperatures we’ve enjoyed so far this winter are expected to come to a screeching halt this weekend, as Andrew Kalin of the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls says we’re going into the deep freeze to start 2022.
Kalin says there’s also a chance of precipitation for the New Year’s holiday.
However, with the forecast frigid temperatures this weekend, he says we at least won’t have to worry about freezing rain complicating our holiday travel plans.
Kalin says after the very cold temperatures this weekend, there will be warmer weather on the way.
According to the National Weather Service, after our single-digit highs that are forecast for this weekend, the mercury is expected to rebound into the middle 30s by Monday.
