O’Brien County, Iowa — It’s official, ambulance services from Sheldon, Sanborn and Primghar are now serving the Archer ambulance area.
Sheldon City Manager Sam Kooiker tells KIWA that he filed the signed 28E agreement between the cities of Archer, Sheldon, Sanborn and Primghar Monday morning.
The agreement was effective as of March 1st, and will run through June 30, 2022, then auto-renew annually after that date.
The agreement was made necessary when Archer city officials voted to disband their ambulance service following the resignations of three ambulance team members, including the Director last June. Since that time new volunteers for the Archer Ambulance Squad were sought, but none were signed up. In November, 2018, the Archer Council voted to disband their ambulance service. Following several meetings between the four municipalities involved, the 28E agreement filed by Kooiker Monday morning spells out each community’s responsibilities and rights under the agreement.
