Orange City, Iowa — It’s tulip time. The 75th Orange City Tulip Festival starts this Thursday among fanfare and ceremony.
Tulip Festival Director Juliana Pennings says your old favorite activities will be there, as will some new twists and special enhancements since it’s the 75th Tulip Festival in Orange City.
Many Dutch treats await you as well such as saucijsjes, dutch letters, poffertjies and dutch babies.
Pennings says that while this is the 75th annual festival, the event actually started more than 75 years ago.
Cara Venema is the 2015 Tulip Queen. Her parents are Dan and Tonya Venema.
Rounding out the 2015 Tulip Court are Micah Vande Vegte, daughter of Gary and Amy Vande Vegte; Emily Wielenga, daughter of Kevin and Dixie Wielenga; Jennifer Droog, daughter of Rick and Sue Droog; and Sydney Huizenga, daughter of Darren and Dawn Huizenga.
Pennings says you also won’t want to miss the 2015 Tulip Festival Night Show — Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins.
She says if you have any questions, you can call 712-707-4510, you can visit octulipfestival.com, or you can stop by the Windmill Information Booth on the park square in Orange City.
