Sheldon, Iowa — Demolition of the old Shopko/Pamida building is underway in Sheldon, and we’re one step closer to having a Kwik Star convenience store in town.
Early this year, Wade Dumont of LaCrosse, Wisconsin-based Kwik Stop, the parent company of Kwik Star convenience stores told us that the sale of the former Shopko location had been completed and Kwik Star had taken possession of the property.
Dumont says the start of construction of the new store is scheduled to begin in mid-June of this year, with construction expected to be completed by the end of October this year.
This past August, Kwik Star had filed with the City of Sheldon an application for a building permit for the property. That application called for a $3.5 million, 11,017 square foot building to be constructed.
The northwest Iowa region will soon have three new Kwik Star locations, with one in Le Mars, one in Sheldon, and one in Sibley. Dumont says that the Sibley store is in the early stages.
