Northwest Iowa — Another week, another Winter Weather Advisory. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory to be in effect from 2:00 am until noon Thursday.
KIWA talked to Sioux Falls National Weather Service Meteorologist Brad Adams and he tells us what to expect.
(As above) “It looks like we’re going to have some mixed precip develop here late tonight through the overnight hours. So it certainly could be slippery, especially down that way, for the morning commute. Also, some of that precip will be changing over to light snow, with an inch or two of accumulation possible across much of northwest Iowa.”
Adams says this storm system will also usher in much cooler air behind it.
(As above) “It’s just a weak low pressure system building in from the west and certainly will bring, again, a mixed bag of precipitation, and some cooler air behind it for later in the week and certainly going to be frigid this weekend.”
We asked him how low the mercury was expected to dip in our area.
(As above) “We’re going to see lows Saturday and Sunday morning probably in the single digits above and below zero. And highs both those days…you know Saturday maybe ten degrees, eight to ten degrees down in that part of the world, and even colder on Sunday….three to around seven or eight degrees for highs.”
Adams says the frigid temperatures are forecast to hang around the area at least through the middle of next week.
