Sanborn, Iowa — A group of 8th graders from the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn area will be leaving late Tuesday night for a four-day trip to Washington, DC. Kim Rieck is the organizer of this trip, and says this is the second time a group of 8th graders have taken such a trip.
She says the 25 students involved have held a series of fundraisers to finance this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Rieck says the first leg of the trip is a charter bus ride to the airport in Omaha.
She says the kids will have a busy four days once they arrive in the nation’s capital.
Rieck says the 25 students and 5 parents will return home late Saturday evening, right before Easter.
