Sioux City, Iowa — Students from sixteen northwest Iowa high schools, including six from our immediate area, are scheduled to attend Senator Chuck Grassley’s Federal Judiciary Youth Summit this Wednesday (April 20th).
The event is scheduled for 9:00 Wednesday morning at the United States Courthouse in Sioux City.
Students will be attending from Sheldon, George-Little Rock, Netherlands Reformed Christian School, Sibley-Ocheyedan, Boyden-Hull and Central Lyon high schools, along with students from Storm Lake, Hinton, Sioux City East, Lawton-Bronson, Algona, MVAOCOU, Sioux City Heelan, Sioux City West, Sergeant Bluff-Luton and Woodbury Central.
As part of the event, Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand will be speaking to the students on his involvement in the federal judiciary system.
Grassley, who is ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, is holding Wednesday’s Federal Judiciary Youth Summit in an effort to engage Iowans in our system of representative government, uphold the separation of powers and foster participation in civic life, according to a press release from the Senator’s office.
