Ashton/Melvin, Iowa — Two Osceola County towns are having celebrations this weekend.
The town of Ashton has Town & Country Days this Friday and Saturday. Friday activities include a slowpitch softball tournament, kids water fights, a movie, snacks, and more.
On Saturday, they’ll have a barbeque cook-off, more softball, the snack shack will be open, there will be a craft show and vendor fair, and the Catholic Daughters will serve food in the big shelter house.
Kids’ activities will include train rides, inflatables, face painting, Mr. Twister, and a pedal pull. There will be a parade at 1. The DeBoer Grocery Museum will be open after the parade. They’ll have music in the park, a bean bag tournament, and music provided by a DJ.
Meanwhile, Melvin will have their Summer Send-Off on Saturday. A cruise night is planned, along with a drive-in movie at the ball field and the Melvin 313 Club will have snacks.
