Ashton, Iowa — A pair of Ashton residents face multiple felony and misdemeanor drug charges after Osceola County authorities executed a search warrant at an Ashton apartment Tuesday evening.
According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, they received a complaint of a resident growing marijuana outside an apartment building in Ashton. Deputies say they executed a search warrant and arrested 37-year old Rashad Bettis, and 21-year old Ashley Castle, both of Ashton.
Authorities say Bettis is charged with Intent to Manufacture Marijuana, and Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp, both of which are Class D Felonies. In addition, Bettes faces misdemeanor charges of Gathering Where Marijuana Is Used, Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Deputies reportedly charged Castle with Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marijuana, a Serious Misdemeanor, Gathering Where Marijuana is Used, a Serious Misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor.
Bond for Bettis was set at $5,000 cash or surety, and Castle’s bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety.
