Autumn’s Center Serves 1000th Child; Over $15K Raised For Camp Autumn

Spencer, Iowa — A center to help troubled kids has been open just over six months and has already served over 1000 children.

Named after Autumn Elgersma of Orange City who lost her life at the hands of her babysitter, Autumn’s Center in Spencer opened its doors to provide specialty care for children from birth to age 21 in northwest Iowa.

Dr. Natalie Sandbulte, Vice President of Clinical Services at Seasons Center, the facility behind Autumn’s Center says that it has been a blessing to be able to serve children in a facility that provides holistic, wrap-around care in a healing environment. She says that the team approach provides children and their families with the support and evidence-based services they need to get healthy and stay healthy.

She says that at Autumn’s Center, they serve children and families who have experienced abuse, neglect, bullying, grief, loss, divorce of parents, anxiety or depression, parental substance abuse, or those who have developmental conditions such as a spectrum disorder, to name a few.

Autumn’s Center is designed to instill hope and healing through bright, vibrant colors and light-filled spaces.

According to Kim Scorza, CEO/President of Seasons Center, Autumn’s Center would not be able to be caring for their 1,000th child without the generous and faithful support of so many people. She says they can’t thank their donors and volunteers enough for all their help in caring for children in northwest Iowa.

Several children who receive services at Autumn’s Center will attend Camp Autumn, a therapeutic day camp for children, beginning in June and throughout the summer months. Camp Autumn near Sutherland is still accepting campers and applicants do not need to be a client of Seasons in order to attend.

Meanwhile, On Saturday, April 8th, over 300 adults and children participated in the 2nd END IT! for Autumn Color Run benefiting Camp Autumn. The fundraiser brought in $15,001.08 for the therapeutic day camp opening June 5.
