Latest Info On Sheldon Bank Robbery

Sheldon, Iowa – A masked gunman robbed Iowa State Bank in Sheldon at midday Thursday, sparking an intense manhunt in the community.

The suspect, who is described as a black male, 6-feet two-inches tall, wearing a black mask, red glasses, white gloves and black and grey pants, was reportedly armed with a handgun. The robber reportedly fled the bank on foot. Officers from multiple area law enforcement agencies converged on Sheldon and a large-scale manhunt began.

Children’s World was locked down after the robbery and Sheldon Community Schools locked down, as well, because they had activities taking place at the school. A law enforcement presence was seen as students left the school.

Shortly before 5:00 Thursday afternoon, law enforcement left the incident scene, saying they believed the suspect had left the area.

Sheldon, Iowa — Officers from several northwest Iowa law enforcement agencies are conducting a manhunt at this hour, searching for a subject who robbed the Iowa State Bank in Sheldon at gunpoint at mid-day today.

The suspect is described as a black male standing 6-feet 2-inches tall, wearing red glasses, a black mask, white gloves and black and grey pants. The robber reportedly made off with a sum of cash in two light tan colored canvas bags.

Authorities think the suspect may have left the bank on foot, prompting a large-scale manhunt spreading out from the bank.

A still photo of the suspect, taken from the bank’s surveillance cameras, can be viewed below.

If you think you know who this suspect is, or if you see someone matching the suspect’s description, you’re asked to call 911. Authorities caution you to NOT approach the suspect, as he is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Witnesses say that officers are going door to door at downtown businesses searching for the suspect, and word has been received that Children’s World is on lockdown due to the situation.

Sheldon, Iowa — A photo of the man who robbed Iowa State Bank in Sheldon Thursday noon has been released by Sheldon Police.

He is described as a 6-foot 2-inch tall black male and was armed with a handgun.

Sheldon, Iowa — Reports have reached KIWA of an armed robbery at a Sheldon bank around noon on Thursday.

Sources say the Iowa State Bank in Sheldon was robbed by an armed male.
