Rock Rapids, Iowa — If you are a beef producer and you haven’t get your Beef Quality Assurance certification yet, there’s an opportunity coming up for you.
Iowa State University Extension Beef Program Specialist Beth Doran tells us what Beef Quality Assurance is.
Doran says she thinks all beef producers should take the training.
The Iowa Beef Center, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and the Iowa Beef Industry Council are offering a training session on August 6 at Frontier Bank, 301 First Avenue (that’s Main Street), in Rock Rapids. The session, set for 10:00 a.m. to noon, will feature eight best management practices and new emerging trends in the beef industry.
Doran says that at least four packers require beef producers to be BQA certified. She says, “Our goal is to help [producers] achieve certification to maintain their market access and to continue to produce safe, wholesome and high-quality beef.”
There is no cost to attend this BQA certification training, but participants are encouraged to preregister by Aug. 4 by calling the ISU Extension and Outreach Lyon County office at 712-472-2576.
