Sibley, Iowa — The Sioux Falls Community Blood Bank Bloodmobile will be holding a blood drive in Sibley this Wednesday, November 23rd.
Kathy Winter at Osceola Community Hospital says blood donations have dropped off greatly and they need everyone to consider donating. She asks people to please take some time out of their day and give the gift of life. She says the life you save may be someone you know.
Winter says it’s always important to give blood, but she tells us why they need your help now.
She says there are a few restrictions.
She says you do have to weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. She says you can donate blood every 56 days. You are asked to bring an ID with you when you come. It is recommended that a person eat and drink plenty of fluids prior to donating too.
According to Winter, the blood drive will be at Osceola Community Hospital, and they take walk-ins, or you can make an appointment.
The Community Blood Bank is the sole supplier of all blood and blood products for Osceola Community Hospital. Winter says no hospitals in our area, including Osceola Community Hospital receive any blood or blood products from the American Red Cross.
The hours for the blood drive are from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but the bloodmobile staff takes their lunch from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., so no donations will be accepted during that time.
