Bloodmobile To Visit Central Lyon In Rock Rapids Next Week

Rock Rapids, Iowa — There are a couple of chances for you to help bolster the blood supply in northwest Iowa coming up next week. One of them is in Rock Rapids.

According to Community Blood Bank Executive Director Ken VerSteeg, Central Lyon High School and Community Blood Bank will host a community blood drive next Wednesday, April 13th from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

He says the blood you donate will help local patients in the community. Donors can schedule an appointment by logging onto cbblifeblood.org, selecting April 13th and Central Lyon High School, or by calling 605-331-3222.

VerSteeg says that during April we celebrate National Donate Life Month. He says it’s a time to remember how volunteers can impact a community by just the simple act of giving blood. He says that with just 30 minutes of time a donor can provide an incredible gift.

VerSteeg says it’s easy to give blood, and says there are only a few requirements and some things they want you to remember when you give blood.

VerSteeg says that Community Blood Bank supplies over 550 units of blood each week to people in northwestern Iowa, southeastern South Dakota, and southwestern Minnesota. He tells us giving blood is a short process that will change a patient’s outlook quickly.

The Community Blood Bank will make another stop in northwest Iowa next week too. We’ll tell you more about that in the coming days.
