Sheldon, Iowa — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Jackie Freese, a provider with Sanford Sheldon, says one in eight women will develop breast cancer sometime in their life. Those are numbers make it very important to stay on top of checkups, especially after the age of 40, according to Freese.
She says that if you are under 40 that doesn’t necessarily mean you shouldn’t have your breasts checked, there are some things to take into consideration.
If a lump is found see a doctor, Freese tells us what the doctor may do. She says there are some things a person can do to prevent breast cancer.
Freese also offers some advice on breast cancer.
