Car Hits Pole, Knocks Out Power In Parts Of Sheldon Saturday

Sheldon, Iowa — More than 650 MidAmerican Energy customers in Sheldon lost power for a time Saturday.

MidAmerican Energy spokesman Geoff Greenwood says 673 of his company’s electric customers lost power about 10:25 Saturday morning after a vehicle reportedly struck an electric pole in front of Northwest Iowa Community College.

Greenwood tells KIWA that MidAmerican crews were dispatched to the scene to make repairs and get power restored. He reports that all but ten of the affected customers had their power restored by about 11:00 am, with the remainder seeing their power come back on shortly after noon Saturday.
