Casey’s Corporate Still Evaluating; No Plans Yet On What To Do With Fire-Damaged Hull Store

Hull/Ankeny, Iowa — Officials with Casey’s General Stores, Inc. have yet to reveal plans for the future of the Casey’s General Store location in Hull, following last week’s fire that severely damaged the convenience store.

When we asked if the building would be repaired, replaced, or demolished, Kendrew Panyanouvong with Casey’s corporate office, told us the company has no further details to share at this time as they say, “…we are in the early stages of evaluating the impact and assessing the damage sustained from the fire at our store in Hull.” Panyanouvong says that as of right now they are encouraging Casey’s guests to visit their nearby locations for all their needs.

Other Casey’s locations near Hull include Sioux Center, Orange City, Alton, Rock Rapids, George, and two locations in Sheldon.

Firefighters from three communities responded to the call of a fire at the Casey’s General Store in Hull on Wednesday morning, September 28, 2022. Flames could be seen coming from the top of the building and Highway 18 was closed for a time due to heavy smoke drifting across the highway. Fire crews from Hull and Rock Valley and the aerial truck from Sioux Center responded. Workers were in the building at the time but authorities say everyone got out safely. According to Hull Fire Chief Ron Hoksbergen, the fire appeared to have started in the store room behind the kitchen. Employees also reported an explosion that occurred inside shortly after flames and smoke were seen.
