Iowa Great Lakes — Not only is this weekend the first weekend that you can fish for walleye in the Iowa Great Lakes — there’s a contest that you’ll want to take advantage of.
Kiley Zankowski with the Iowa Great Lakes Chamber of Commerce tells us about Walleye Weekend 2019.
She tells us how it works.
Zankowski says if you plan to fish in the Iowa Great Lakes at all this summer (That would be Spirit Lake, East and West Lake Okoboji, Upper and Lowa Gar Lakes, or Minnewashta Lake.) you should register for the contest, because if you catch one of the tagged walleye after this weekend and before August 31st, you could still win some money. She says last year someone didn’t know about the contest and ended up eating a fish that would have been worth $1500.
