City Council To Talk Zoning Matters Wednesday

Sheldon, Iowa — Numerous zoning and right-of-way matters are included on the agenda for the Sheldon City Council meeting scheduled for Wednesday, November 4th.

The consent agenda includes setting a hearing on the request from Ag Partners to vacate a portion of the West 11th Street and Railroad Avenue right-of-way. It also includes setting a hearing for a zoning ordinance amendment regarding sheds in areas of the city that are zoned arterial commercial, and the receiving of the planning commission report on a zoning ordinance amendment regarding residential small livestock raising. All items on the consent agenda are acted upon with a single vote unless discussion on any of the items is requested.

Under new business, the regular agenda includes two public hearings. One of those is on a zoning ordinance amendment on swimming pool fences. The other is with regard to a zoning ordinance amendment dealing with storage sheds.

In other business, the council will hold a public hearing on a contract for the development of a new Cobblestone Hotel in the Sheldon Crossing area. The council will also address the third reading of an ordinance amendment pertaining to urban livestock.
