Sheldon, Iowa — The collapse of a culvert under Western Avenue has caused the City of Sheldon to close the street for a period of time.
City officials say the collapse was discovered Thursday, and City crews, along with Sheldon Farmer’s Market are working diligently to repair the collapse. Officials say the issue was discovered just prior to what would have been a catastrophic failure.
As a result, Western Avenue is closed south of West 10th Street until repairs can be completed. Officials say they hope to have the work completed and the street reopened by May 6th, weather permitting. In the meantime please avoid Western Avenue south of West 10th Street in Sheldon.
