Council To Consider Recreation Weather Policy At Wednesday Meeting

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will meet Wednesday, September 5th with a relatively short agenda. One of the items on the Consent Agenda will be consideration of the Recreation Weather Policy, which outlines the criteria used to determine if or when events are canceled and the procedures that will be followed. The policy will also name who is responsible for making those decisions. It also lists the facilities used to inform the public. This includes Facebook, Twitter, Text Alerts, and KIWA Radio.

The Council will also consider the Scope of Services Plan for approximately forty acres of land that has been purchased northeast of the City along Highways 60 and 18 for future development. Such concerns as storm drainage, stormwater management, street alignment, and utilities will all be included. The plan will include several workshops and two public open house events to provide the public with an overview of the project scope. These open house dates will also give the public an opportunity to express their comments and ask questions.

The other agenda item is a discussion on nuisances and dangerous buildings.

Wednesday afternoon’s meeting will begin at 4:30 in the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center.
