Council To Consider SCAT Leadership, Union Contract At Wednesday Meeting

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will meet in regular session Wednesday, with several items on their agenda.

Among the items of business in front of the council will be the appointment of Krysten Haan as Director of the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team. She will replace Kevin Miller, who recently resigned from SCAT. In addition, they’re expected to confirm Mayor Greg Geels’ appointment of Mariah Jansen as Assistant Director of the ambulance team.

In other action, council is expected to take up the Collective Bargaining Agreement with City employees. Portions of this discussion may be held in closed session.

The council is also expected to set the date and time for a public hearing on the leasing of farmland on South 8th Avenue, consider operation of the Community Services Center in relation to Governor Reynolds’ most recent coronavirus proclamation and hear a report from Community Development Director Curt Strouth on housing in Sheldon. They’ll also discuss a request from Excellence for East, a parents’ group of East Elementary School, for the installation of a lighted crosswalk sign at the intersection of 6th Street and Washington Avenue.
