Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council meets in regular session Wednesday, January 5th, they’ll have some business to dispose of to begin 2022.
The council is scheduled to reappoint City Attorney Micah Schreurs to that position, as well as designating banks as depositories of City funds, and designating the Official Newspaper for 2022.
In other business, the Sheldon City Council will hear a presentation on the audit of the City for last year by a representative of the firm of Winther & Stave, which conducted the audit.
The Council will hold a Public Hearing on an ordinance amendment referencing the new ward boundaries. The Council is also expected to approve an applicant to the Sheldon Fire Company, two SCAT applicants and one applicant to the Sheldon EMA team.
The Council is also scheduled to say hello to one new police officer, and goodbye to one of the department’s veteran officers. Officer Zane Roberts will officially take the oath of office at Wednesday’s meeting. Roberts began his duties last week. They’re also scheduled to approve an early retirement agreement with veteran Officer Rob Hegenbarth. Hegenbarth has served on the Sheldon Police Department since April 12, 1993.
Wednesday’s meeting of the Sheldon City Council will be called to order at 4:30 pm in Council Chambers, on the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center. If you can’t attend in person, you may watch the meeting online, via YouTube Live.
