Council To Hear About Worker’s Comp Insurance At Wednesday Meeting

Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council meet in regular session this Wednesday evening they’ll hear about the City’s Worker’s Comp insurance for the next fiscal year.

The Council is expected to hear from a representative of Perspective Insurance about the City’s Worker’s Comp insurance rates for fiscal year 2022-23.

In other action, the Council is expected to consider a resolution of support and local incentive for the construction of an additional 30 apartment units and 8 new townhome units by Citadel 1, LLC, for Prairie Trail Phase II.

The Consent Agenda for Wednesday’s meeting, the items that will be handled by a single vote of the Council, include: setting a public hearing on the fiscal year 2022-23 Grant Agreement with Children’s World; setting a public hearing on a Budget Amendment; approval of a SCAT volunteer; approval of Celebration Days requests; and more.

Wednesday’s meeting will be called to order at 4:30 in Council Chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center. The meeting is open to the public, but if you can’t be there in-person, you can watch it, live on the City’s YouTube Live channel.

Unemployment rate drops in April

The April unemployment rate dropped to two-point-eight percent compared to two-point-nine percent in March. Iowa Workforce Development director, Beth Townsend, says
