Council To Talk TIF Application At Wednesday Meeting

Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council meets in regular session this Wednesday afternoon (April 5th), they’re expected to set the time and date for a public hearing on a TIF application that has been submitted by a new business.

The business, which will be located in the former Carl Zeiss building, is located on 16th Street, southwest of Rosenboom Machine & Tool. The company’s plans call for a major expansion to the original 4300-square-foot structure.

In other new business, the Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing on the fiscal year 2023-2024 budget. They’re also expected to discuss a housing incentive for the Sheldon Crossing area. The Council is also expected to discuss the rezoning of various properties in the city. They’re also expected to, once again, take up the subdivision redevelopment of the property that formerly was home to Bethel Reformed Church, as well as adopt new rental rates for the Sheldon Community Services Center.

The meeting is set to begin with the Oath of Office for Sheldon’s newest Police Officer, Nyron Moore, Jr. He previously worked as an Osceola County Sheriff’s Deputy.

Other items of interest on Wednesday’s agenda are a resolution to appoint Steve Gardfrey as Assistant Director of the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team, a resolution to appoint various members of the Sheldon Fire Company to officer positions with the department, approval of the mayor’s appointments to the Trails Committee and Board of Adjustment, among other items.

Wednesday’s meeting begins at 4:30 in Council Chambers of the Sheldon Community Services Center. If you are unable to attend, you can watch the proceedings via YouTube Live.
