Crime Was Down In 2022 For Most Of Our Part Of Northwest Iowa

Northwest Iowa — As a whole, crime rates in the state of Iowa went down in 2022, according to the Iowa Department of Public Safety.

Crime rates in O’Brien County went down 19.67 percent. Sexual offenses had gone up 70 percent, while robbery had gone down 100 percent.

In Sioux County, crime rates went up 6.11 percent in 2022. Stolen property offenses went up 400 percent, while homicides went down 100 percent.

Osceola County’s crime rates went down 53.02 percent in 2022. Drug offenses went down 2.48 percent and homicide went down 100 percent.

In Lyon County, crime rates went down 12.46 percent. Stolen property went up 100 percent, while sexual offenses went down 60 percent.

The highest rise in crime rate in 2022 was found in Greene County where it went up 60.62 percent.
