Northwest Iowa — The weekly crop report is in, and it shows that crop maturity is ahead of normal in the Hawkeye State. We had a chance to talk to Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Crop Field Specialist Joel De Jong.
We asked him how crops are doing in northwest Iowa as compared to the rest of the state.
He tells us that there’s a similar story when it comes to corn maturity.
De Jong gives us his prediction as to the timeline for harvest 2016.
Like De Jong says, weather is going to play a big factor. The National Weather Service says that for the next six to ten days at least, they predict warmer then normal temperatures, but they also predict more than the normal amount of precipitation.
