UPDATE: Daffodils Being Sold As Fundraiser For Relay For Life

daffodilsSheldon, Iowa — It’s time once again to start thinking about spring and making a donation to help save lives through the O’Brien County chapter of the American Cancer Society.

One of the first flowers of spring, the daffodil is the symbol of hope. And the O’Brien County American Cancer Society is selling daffodils again this year as a fundraiser for Relay for Life.

We talked with Loretta Vander Linden of the American Cancer Society and she tells us why she thinks people should consider buying daffodils.

She tells us that besides the very important work of education and research, funds donated through daffodil proceeds and other Relay For Life projects are also used in other ways.

Vander Linden says she encourages everyone to do their part in the battle against cancer.

Daffodils are available three different ways, according to Cindy Runger with the American Cancer Society. A bunch of daffodils is $10.00, a bunch and a vase is available for $15.00, and a 4-inch potted dainty is available for $8.00.

Daffodils may be ordered from now through February 23rd. To place your order, call Cindy Runger (541-7122); Loretta Vander Linden (324-2273); Hair Headquarters; Impressions; or stop at the Sheldon Public Library.

Daffodils will be available for pickup on Tuesday, March 14 from 1:00-4:30 p.m. at Cook’s Cafe in Sheldon.

This year’s Relay For Life in Sheldon has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 13th.
