Daughter Of Slain Missionary Coming To Orange City

Orange City, Iowa — The daughter of a missionary who was murdered by a savage tribe is coming to Orange City for several events on November 2nd and 3rd.

Esther Diekevers was the person who first had the idea for the events, and she acts as the spokesperson for the visit of Valerie and Walter Shepard. Valerie is the daughter of the late Jim and Elisabeth Elliot, who Diekevers calls “one of the most influential women of our time.”

Diekevers tells us about Valerie Shepard’s ministry.

According to Diekevers, there will be many opportunities for people to hear the Shepards’ story on Friday, November 2nd and Saturday, November 3rd.

She tells us why Shepard continues to do speaking engagements.

Diekevers says after her nine-year-old daughter heard the story of the Elliots, she asked whatever happened to Valerie. Diekevers told her daughter she didn’t know, but she would find out. After a quick Facebook check and a phone call from her a couple of days later, it had been decided that Valerie Elliot Shepard and her husband would come to Orange City.
