December Ends With Over Double The Normal Snowfall In Sheldon

Sheldon, Iowa — The month of December 2025 was slightly warmer and a bit snowier than normal in Sheldon.

According to the weather facts collected by KIWA Radio, the highest high was 50 degrees, recorded on December 27th. The lowest high temperature was 7 degrees, recorded on December 13th.

The lowest low in the month was -18 on December 13th. We recorded below-zero low temperatures on December 1st, 3rd, 4th, 12th, 13th, and 14th. The highest low was 34 on Christmas Day and December 26th.

The average high for the month was 31 degrees. The normal is 30. The average low was 12. The normal is 11. The average temperature as-a-whole for the month was 22 degrees, and normally it’s 21.

We received 1.64 inches of precipitation in December. A normal December sees 0.93 of an inch, so we were above normal for the month by 0.71 inches. Year-to-date precipitation was 29.09 inches.
