Dordt Nursing Students Experience New Nursing Area

Sioux Center, Iowa — When Dordt University nursing students went back to class this fall, a brand new nursing area was waiting for them.

Dordt’s Nursing Program Director, Dr. Deb Bomgaars gives us some background.

Bomgaars tells us about the new facility.

She says there is even a pregnant simulated patient that gives birth.

Dr. Bomgaars says they also have an eight-bed practice lab. She says the new space in the center of Dordt’s campus is actually old space that has been completely remodeled to accommodate the nursing department.

She tells us that the nursing area was made possible by generous donations, and it’s about eight times bigger than the old president’s house, where Dordt’s nursing program was last year. She says they’re grateful to God and to the board of trustees for the opportunity to do this.

A dedication ceremony of the Carl and Gloria Zylstra Nursing Education Center will take place at Dordt’s Defender Days on October 12, 2019.
