DOT: Expect Road Construction On Highways 18 & 10 This Year, Plus Smaller Projects

Northwest Iowa — It’s about time for the summer construction season to begin, and the Iowa DOT has some projects scheduled in our area.

We talked with new DOT District 3 Transportation Planner, Sarah Tracy, and she tells us what we can expect in our area.

She says there are a few bigger projects as well.

Tracy says she doesn’t know for sure when those contractors are going to get started on the work. She says they also have a bigger project on Highway 18 in Hull.

For those unfamiliar with Hull, Division Street is also known as rural Hickory Avenue or K52. It’s the cross-street of the Casey’s and Fareway corner in Hull. She says you’ll start seeing some workers as soon as this coming Monday, March 31st, and the detour will go into effect on Monday, April 14th.

According to Tracy, there will be work continuing in Sioux Center, but the City is in charge of that project. She says the DOT also plans on re-doing Highway 75 north of Sioux Center, but that won’t be until 2027.

Tracy tells us that as far as construction in the Iowa Great Lakes area, there will be markedly less work going on there. Crews completed a big project there on Highway 71 with a ribbon cutting last fall.
