Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon physician who has spent the past eight months serving our country after being called up to active duty Navy, has returned to the community, and will soon return to seeing patients.
This past September, Dr. Josephine Dunn-Junius was deployed with the United States Navy to the African region.
Before her departure last fall, Dr. Dunn-Junius told KIWA she was inspired by her dad to serve in the military. She told us that in her last year of family medicine training she talked to a Navy Recruiter and began the process. At the time of our conversation, she told us that it’s sometimes diffcult to explain why she wants to serve in the military, but she said it was something she feels called to do.
According to a release from Sanford Sheldon, Dr. Dunn-Junius has been spending some time with her family since returning to Sheldon, and is scheduled to resume seeing patients at the Sanford Sheldon Clinic on June 18th.
