Sheldon, Iowa — A very special event was held at Sheldon’s East Elementary School Tuesday evening.
More than six-hundred people were on hand for “Literacy Night” at East Elementary, an event designed to help instill a love of reading in elementary school students.
We talked to East Elementary’s Stephanie Pritts prior to Tuesday’s Literacy Night, and she says this year’s event was the fourth year for Literacy Night.
Pritts tells us about this year’s Literacy Night theme.
Pritts says that after eating dinner the students retired to the gym, where there was a photo booth and other activities. Pictures from the photo booth were then posted to the East Elementary Facebook page.
She says the students then went into their chosen activity groups.
Pritts says the goal for the evening was to get the students fired up about reading.
Pritts says Tuesday night’s Literacy Night attracted nearly two-hundred more people than last year’s event.
