Emmetsburg Daycare Provider Pleads Not Guilty In Death Of A Child

Emmetsburg, Iowa — An Emmetsburg daycare provider has pleaded not guilty in the death of a child who was nearly two years old.

According to court documents, 28-year-old Hannah Priest is facing one count of child endangerment resulting in death.

The documents allege that on January 19, 2023, Priest found the 23-month-old unresponsive in his sleeping cot. Authorities have confirmed Priest was the child’s daycare provider. EMTs responded to the Emmetsburg daycare and the toddler was eventually taken to a hospital in Des Moines, where the child was declared dead on January 24th of this year.

Priest is scheduled to go on trial February 6th, 2024.
