Orange City, Iowa — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The research continues to tell us that if it’s caught early, women have a much better chance of survival.
Jenny Campbell, the Radiology Manager at Orange City Area Health System, says there is good news.
She says there are many kinds of mammograms, but the basic mammogram is probably the one that has changed the most over the years.
She says it’s important to get a baseline mammogram because breasts are not all the same.
Campbell tells us when women should have their first mammogram.
According to Campbell, they also recommend monthly self-exams, knowing about any herreditary risk factors, routine wellness exams with your provider, and adopting a healthy lifestyle.
