Sheldon, Iowa — With the heat we’ve been having, it might be a good idea to talk about heatstroke and heat exhaustion.

We talked with Sandra Muyskens, a physician’s assistant in the emergency department at Sanford Sheldon. She tells us how you can prevent heatstroke.

She says if you can, it’s better to work with a buddy who could maybe point out some symptoms of heat stress before they become a bigger issue.

She says you should try to know ahead of time where you can recuperate if you need to. According to Muyskens, if you do start to experience heat exhaustion, there are some steps you should take.

If you need more information, you can call Sanford Sheldon Medical Center or your medical provider.
