Northwest Iowa — With the tragic tractor rollover accidents in our area in recent weeks, we talked to Agricultural Engineer Dr. Kris Kohl from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach about how such accidents might be prevented.
Dr. Kohl says he says people on tractors need to be extremely careful around road ditches.
Kohl says there are some ways to make the tractors safer.
Kohl says that implement dealers, independent contractors, and others can be contacted to retrofit a rollbar for your older tractor. He says in this day and age, you could probably do an internet search and find someone selling a rollbar for your particular type of tractor.
According to Dr. Kohl, we need to make sure that our youth are educated about the hazards of tractor rollovers.
