Northwest Iowa — Flu season is approaching. Experts say that flu vaccination has important benefits. It can reduce flu illnesses, doctors’ visits, and missed work and school due to flu, as well as prevent flu-related hospitalizations.
Dr. Amy Badberg, a physician at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center says everyone who’s eligible should receive a flu shot.
She says one form of the flu vaccine is not available this year.
Dr. Badberg helps to dispel a common myth about influenza vaccination.
In addition, Badberg says Sanford Sheldon has scheduled a number of flu shot clinics, starting on October 10th. Special clinics are planned for certain people with certain kinds of insurance, such as a Medicaid MCO. Some types of people need to go to a special flu shot clinic offered by Sanford Sheldon, or call for an appointment.
