Sioux Center, Iowa — The Sioux County Youth Fair has been awarded matching grants from Alceco, a farmer-owned cooperative and majority owner of Ag Partners, L.L.C., and CoBank, a national cooperative bank.
The fair was awarded $4,000, which will be used toward the purchase of new pens for the sheep and swine barn on the fairgrounds.
More than 100 exhibitors show sheep and swine at the youth fair each year, according to Marv Rietema, chairman of the sales committee for the Sioux County Youth Fair. He says the pens the fair has been using are 40 years old.
He says the pens are in dire need of replacement, and says the Fair is very appreciative of Alceco and CoBank for their donation to help Sioux County’s youth. Rietema said the new pens will be in place prior to this year’s fair, held July 11-16 2015.
The checks were presented by Gerald Droog, customer sales representative with Ag Partners.
