Boyden, Iowa– A fire suppression system made short work of a fire at Dethmers Manufacturing — better known as Demco — on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 in Boyden.
According to Boyden Fire Chief Chris Starkenburg, just before 10 a.m., the Boyden Fire Department was called to the report of fire in the paint booth at Demco.
The chief says the fire department saw that the automatic fire suppression system had extinguished the fire in the paint booth. Starkenburg says that no injuries were reported. He says the cause of the fire is still undetermined.
Chief Starkenburg reports that there was some damage to some filters, but damage was minimal.
He says they just made sure that the fire was out and everything and everyone was safe, and were on scene for about forty-five minutes.
