First-Ever Spelling Bee Planned At Next Week’s O’Brien County Fair

Primghar, Iowa — As far as we know, it has never happened before. A spelling bee for kids has been planned at next week’s O’Brien County Fair in Primghar.

Carol McDowell is one of the people planning the new event, and she tells us about it.

She says there will be no adult division this year, and all contestants will compete according to grade level.

McDowell tells us how the ball got rolling on this event.

According to McDowell, the event will also be sponsored by a statewide organization.

She explains what to do if your child is interested in participating.

Again, the spelling bee itself will be at the administration building at the O’Brien County Fairgrounds in Primghar from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, July 27th.
