Five Seek Election To O’Brien County Extension Council

Primghar, Iowa — The Iowa Governor’s office, as well as 4th District US House seat will be on the ballot when you go to vote on November 6th, but O’Brien County voters will be presented with choices in a less high-profile election that day, as well.

O’Brien County voters will be asked to elect five members to the O’Brien County Extension Council. The O’Brien County Extension Council guides the workings of the local Iowa State University Extension and Outreach office by developing policy, and helping to make programming and budget decisions. ISU Extension and Outreach educational programming is a cooperative effort involving local citizens, Iowa State University and the United States Department of Agriculture.

Extension council members are elected at large and all voters in the county are eligible to vote for five candidates.

Candidates on this year’s ballot include:

Chas Biery is a loan officer at Savings Bank in Hartley. Growing up in Sutherland and now residing in Hartley, he looks forward to serving O’Brien County as a member of the extension council.

Lisa Koehlmoos is a Direct Care Giver at Village Northwest, and she and her husband also farm near Granville. Koehlmoos has served on the O’Brien County Extension Council since 2011 and is seeking reelection.
