Four COVID Deaths, Fourteen New Cases Here On Tuesday

Northwest Iowa — Four new deaths and fourteen new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the four northwesternmost Iowa counties on Tuesday, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

Two of the deaths were Lyon County residents and the other two were Sioux County residents. The death toll for the area is now at 167 since the pandemic began. The death totals are 54 in O’Brien County, 64 in Sioux County, 37 in Lyon County, and 12 in Osceola County.

There was one new case in Osceola County, two new cases were reported in Lyon County, and there were seven new cases in Sioux County. O’Brien County had four new cases. About twelve percent of northwest Iowans have tested positive for COVID since March 2020. Roughly one person in eight in this area has tested positive at some point since March.

Out of the 1,399 Lyon County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,253 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 90%.
Out of the 4,638 Sioux County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 4,360 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 94%.
Out of the 1,729 O’Brien County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,574 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 91%.
Out of the 655 Osceola County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 612 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 93%.

Osceola County currently has 31 active cases, down four. There were 101 in O’Brien County, which is down nine, and 109 in Lyon County, which is down five from the previous day. Sioux County has 214 active cases, which is down 22.
