Northwest Iowa — Four new deaths and nine new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the four northwesternmost Iowa counties on Tuesday, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.
There were three new deaths in Lyon County, bringing their total to 40, and one new death in Osceola County, bringing their total to 13. Sioux and O’Brien counties reported no new deaths. O’Brien’s total remains at 54, and Sioux’s remains at 66. The death toll for the area is now at 173 since the pandemic began.
There were eight new cases in Sioux County and one in O’Brien County. Osceola and Lyon counties reported no new cases. About twelve percent of northwest Iowans have tested positive for COVID since March 2020. Roughly one person in eight in this area has tested positive at some point since that time.
Out of the 1,415 Lyon County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,300 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 92%.
Out of the 4,673 Sioux County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 4,462 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 95%.
Out of the 1,755 O’Brien County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,623 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 92%.
Out of the 656 Osceola County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 620 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 95%.
Osceola County currently has 23 active cases, down three in the last 24 hours. There were 78 in O’Brien County, which is down nine, and 75 in Lyon County, which is down seven. Sioux County has 145 active cases, which is down 21.
