Free Youth Mental Health “First Aid” Training Scheduled

Northwest Iowa — If you work with kids in any capacity, there’s free training coming up in our area that will help you determine if any of the kids you work with need mental help.

Sue Boettcher with Iowa State University Extension explains.

She tells us teachers would be an obvious target for this class, but others are encouraged to attend too.

Boettcher gives us some more details.

She tells us it’s important for adults to be able to identify these mental issues.

The training sessions will be:
February 11 – ISU Extension Sioux County Office, 400 Central Avenue Northwest, Orange City
March 2 – Frontier Bank Basement, 301 Main Street, Rock Rapids
March 3 – Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 704 Poplar Drive, Sibley

Each training will go from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and due to the hands-on nature of the training, each location is limited to the first 30 registrants. Lunch and light refreshments will be provided. To register and guarantee your spot in the free training, visit https://prosper-rx.ppsi.iastate.edu/ymhfa.
