Fundraiser Planned To Help Chatsworth Woman In Need Of Kidney Transplant

Hawarden, Iowa — A Chatsworth woman with an autoimmune disease is looking for a kidney donor, and her friends have organized a fundraiser for her, this Saturday, July 11th.

Keiana Merrick Draayer has had the disease for the past six years and is in need of a kidney transplant. She tells us how she found out about her condition.

She says she’s glad that people want to help.

The fundraiser will be this Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Community Center in Hawarden. It will include a live auction, a silent auction, a bake sale, and a freewill-donation supper. For more information or to donate a prize or money, contact Karen Longhorn at 712-551-2018.

If you are interested in donating a kidney, there is a “Paired Exchange” program, in which people match donors with possible recipients. For more information, you can call 888-909-1112 and mention that you’re calling about possibly donating a kidney to Keiana Merrick Draayer.
