Funeral Homes Purchased By Next Generation

Primghar, Iowa — It was apparently time for the older generation to pass the baton to the younger generation in the management of four area funeral homes.

The O’Brien County Economic Development Corporation tells us that Ben and Sara Eldridge are the new owners of the Eldridge Family & Vander Ploeg Funeral Homes in Paullina, Primghar, Sheldon and Boyden. They say the younger Eldridges recently purchased the four homes from Ben’s parents, Peter and LaNan Eldridge. Ben and Sara began this transition in 2011 when Ben joined the family business after completing his schooling. Sara became the full-time bookkeeper for the funeral homes late last year.

The O’Brien County Economic Development Corporation tells us they are proud to support this business succession through an O’Brien County IRP Revolving Loan Fund Loan for the Primghar, Sheldon and Boyden locations.

O’Brien County officials say the Revolving Loan Fund is used to attract, retain or expand business or industry. Revolving loan funds may be used for land purchases, building purchases, building construction, machinery purchases, equipment purchases and any other uses deemed appropriate by the RLF Committee.

For additional information on O’Brien County Revolving Loan Funds, they tell us that you can contact Kiana Johnson at 712-957-1313 or at ocedc@tcaexpress.net.
